Supervision Services

Supervision Services

I, Lauren Johnson, LMFT (#1527), offer individual supervision for those pursuing MFT Licensure and am an approved supervisor in good standing of the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy. My cost per supervision hour (50 minutes) is $100, which can be split with a supervision partner.

I have been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 2020. My clinical experience has focused on trauma, religious trauma, anxiety, relationship issues, identity work, and boundaries. I have worked in both group practice and private practice. I approach counseling and supervision from a Rogerian/Person Centered framework. I use EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Parts Work (IFS), and Solution Focused modalities and interventions. In addition to systemic thinking, I like to conceptualize cases through an attachment based and trauma informed lens.

I believe that the goal of supervision is to provide a structured, safe place for supervisees to learn and grow in the therapy profession. I aim to help supervisees think systemically, guide them in clinical decision-making, and ensure they are following legal and ethical protocols.

One of the most important aspects of being a therapist is knowing when our personal issues are getting in the way of the therapeutic process, which is why I love exploring person-of-the-therapist issues during supervision. I believe that if we can become aware of our own biases, limitations, triggers, etc., we will be the most effective therapists. If you would like to work with me, please be prepared to be vulnerable and willing to discuss your own “work” during our supervision time together.

Lastly, I use an integrative approach in my supervision. I encourage and cheer on my supervisees while helping them create measurable goals. I am directive when needed while also being open, honest, empathetic, and personable. I use myself as a teaching tool and normalize making mistakes by sharing my own past failures. Additionally, I try to accommodate the therapy models or interventions that the supervisee might want to try or learn, even if it is not one of my preferred modalities.
